Contamination of River Bhadra

River Bhadra takes birth at an altitude of 1450 mts above Mean Sea Level in Chikkamagalur District of Karnataka State in the prestine Western Ghats. River flows through Bhadra Tiger Reserve and is a home fo wildlife and biodiversity. River Bhadra flows through Bhadravathi Taluk of Shivamogga District.

Bhadra River though it is of a high ecological importance is now threatened by the pollution. Improper Sewage Treatment and Effluent Treatment from the villages, townships and industries and Garbage disposal directly to the river is directly affecting the riverine ecosystem. We at SPECIES are working in the river rejuvenation of Bhadra with the support of stake holders.
